I want to let you know about important programs that can help students pay for college, Cal-Grants and Middle-Class Scholarship.

Paying for college can be difficult, but California has ways to help qualified students. The California Student Aid Commission is offering free workshops to help students become more aware of these programs and help them complete their applications. I am hosting one in our district at Fremont High School on January 27, 2018.

Saturday, January 27

Don't delay! The deadline to apply is March 2.

In 1994, Congress passed the King Holiday and Service Act, designating the Martin Luther King Jr. Federal Holiday as a national day of service. Taking place each year on the third Monday in January, the MLK Day of Service is the only federal holiday observed as a national day of service.

This year, my office will be celebrating MLK National Day of Service a couple of days earlier by hosting a clean-up in conjunction with Caltrans. We will clean trash and debris around the 110 Freeway on and off -ramps at Manchester Blvd. All materials including trash bags, brooms, shovels, litter getters, as well as trash trucks will be provided.

Saturday, January 13
8 a.m. - 10 a.m.
