Community Advocate Paula Ramirez Joins the Staff of Assemblymember Reggie Jones-Sawyer

LOS ANGELES, CA – (April 14, 2020) Assemblymember Reggie Jones-Sawyer (D-Huntington Park/South Los Angeles) announced the addition of Los Angeles community advocate and community relations specialist Paula Ramirez to his staff roster.

A native of Los Angeles, Ms. Ramirez’s family originally came to the U.S. as participants in the early days of the “Bracero” program. Her family’s history of immigration instilled in her a sense of duty to help communities of color thrive and excel.

“I have dedicated the greater portion of my career to championing social and community causes including immigration reform, minority rights, voter education, affordable housing, Veterans Services, and protection for the LGBTQ community,” said Ms. Ramirez

“Paula has a unique ability to connect with the communities she works with and help bring positive change,” said Assmblymember Jones-Sawyer. “She is a great addition to my team and will no doubt work diligently to support the needs of the constituents of Assembly District 59.”

Paula’s work in the community has been recognized by former State Senator Kevin de Leon for her volunteer efforts, commitment and dedication to the community. Paula was also recognized by Los Angeles City Councilmember Gil Cedillo for outstanding citizenship and activities enhancing community betterment.

Additionally, the Chicano Latino Immigrant Democratic Club of Los Angeles County honored Paula for her defense of and representation of the values, principles, and rights of Latino migrants in California. Paula has also joined the Los Angeles Interfaith and Multiculturalism Committee with an emphasis on assisting the Los Angeles Police Department’s (LAPD) Community Engagement Division. Ms. Ramirez serves as a board member and co-chair of development for the Hispanic Public Relations Association-Los Angeles
