Assemblymember Jones-Sawyer Talks with HLN Host Michaela Pereira about Youth Reinvestment Proposal

(Sacramento) - For many kids in California, the “school-to-prison pipeline” is a cruel reality. That’s why Assemblymember Reggie Jones-Sawyer (D-South Los Angeles) wants to use $100M of the state budget surplus for a Youth Reinvestment Fund. During his appearance on HLN with Michaela Pereira, Assemblymember Jones-Sawyer said, “What we plan to do is provide funding for at-risk youth, both in community-based organizations and in government, so that we can ultimately stop the flow of people going through that (school-to-prison pipeline).” Watch this Assembly Asset video to learn more about why Assemblymember Jones-Sawyer says the Youth Reinvestment Fund will pay dividends for the kids and California.
